We are rated Australia’s highest quality silent disco hire company and here’s why…
“Inspired by the silent disco’s of San Francisco in 2012, I began in 2014 with the goal of bringing this unique experience into the Southern hemisphere” Says founder Paul Pearlstone “ I wanted to push the boundaries of where we could party, to bring music to new places without disturbing the peace and yet being completely immersed.
My goal with The Silent Rave was to bring high quality audio and a great customer experience to the Silent Disco scene in Australia
We began to experiment with different things we could do such as games and movies, not just dance floors packed into dingy sweaty clubs, where all the competition were minting money week after week. We went and started in parks and collaborated with visual artists, therapists and the like to see where we could take it. My goal with The Silent Rave was to bring high quality audio and a great customer experience to the Silent Disco scene in Australia and I think we excelled at just that…”
Q: what are some of the challenges we face
“For starters we didn’t have investors with deep pockets - all we had were music lovers, people who wanted to jam and a bunch of very basic party equipment. Not many people knew what a ‘Silent Disco’ was at the time and we were sort of pioneers in showing people how it worked or could work.”
10 years on and the market has changed. People really know what it means and they are fast introducing each other to the possibilities and seeing it as a realistic addition to their environment.
“One of the Challenges at the beginning was introducing people. but now that people know we have newcomers in the scene and a lot more brands and models of equipment - not all of it is the best standard
Sure you can ship in some mediocre equipment and start your own silent disco if you have some savings to throw down. But will you have what it takes to provide the quality that people will enjoy and talk about?
With cheaper and lower quality equipment penetrating the market, its possible for bigger businesses to drop prices low and fool customers into thinking that is what a product should cost. Good equipment needs care. It needs configuration, cleaning and maintenance. One of our challenges right now is competing with these fly by night outfits that think they can have a slice of the market without caring for what the customer experience is.
You really can’t put a price on a well run silent disco but we want artists to be paid and our business to stay sustainable.
Prices have risen and with it our overheads. You really can’t put a price on a well run silent disco but we want artists to be paid and our business to stay sustainable… and to be honest if we can’t do it well, we just aren’t going to serve up a half baked dish!”
Q: How do we continue to bring quality?
The Silent Rave is considered a “Small Business”, but our offering isn’t small by any means.
The Silent Rave employ various people from MC’s and DJ’s to Drag queens and Children’s entertainers and dozens of real customer reviews are not to be scoffed at.
Expanding our repertoire while keeping our quality tight is what we aim for.
It’s not just about equipment and value for money, it’s about creating experiences.
As long as we can create we will be here, it’s up to the customers to keep supporting it and trying new things.
